Everybody calls her Sue nowadays, but if you are a friend from way way back you might have known her as Sulai, Ulai or Sulaiman.  She’s an Event Organizer, an Event Host, a Voice Over Talent, Creative Writer, PR Manager, an Artist Handler and a Brand Builder.  She plays Monster Mom to her two children, Justice and Jazmine and a granny to Joaquin, a two-year old little boy that just drives everyone nuts!  She has three obnoxiously cute and very active adult dogs – Tootsie, half beagle and Shih-Tzu, Oreo, a Jack Russel and Chewy, a full Shih-Tzu, who is currently in the care of Aileen, her partner.  Sue have a younger brother, Chris, who is a monster bartender traveling all over the world aboard the Royal Caribbean, and a crazy younger sister who they fondly call Poopie (don’t ask why) who is 10 years younger than her, and works for one of the major jewelry stores in the country.  Her sister is married to Alex and they have a 12 year old son named Reign.  Sue has two other sisters and a very young brother from her dad Tino, who lives in Las Pinas, but that is a whole different story.  Well, basically, this is her extended family.

The name Sulaiman,  was coined by her Hippie Mom Liza and her Aunt, Sol Vanzi after the  lifestyle boutique  the two owned and managed during the 70’s.  Of course, the boutique was named  “Sulaiman Boutique”, it sold all the cool stuff loved by the hipsters of that generation…all the baubles and bangles, Boho-Chic outfits, the crocheted shawls with matching bonnets and beanies, leather patchwork and embroidered denims.  The glory days of hippie fashion and it was all there along Mabini Street, near the old Ambassador Hotel.  They said they named her because when her mom conceived of her, their boutique business suddenly boomed!  They got pretty popular with the local market, and were already getting inquiries from Sears from abroad, and so these two hippies decided to give her that birthname.  When they did bring her to historic Malate church for the Christening, the dear old priest suggested that the name Sulaiman might need to be more Christian-sounding and added Maria / Ma. , thus making it Ma. Sulaiman Malones Jose, for real!

For the longest time, Sue has been doing Events, PR and Marketing, all of which are a great part of what she is today. She is rockstar category now, but for all those who really know her personally, she hasn’t really changed a bit since she was in her pig tails.  Sue may have grown a little bit tougher and wiser.  But who doesn’t after all she’s have been through all these years.

Sue slays in the kitchen!  She loves it when her kids tell her that maybe she should  offer a food services as a business or maybe build their own cozy little restaurant where some of her music industry friends could play and jam while people gulp down their very cold San Mig Light… and that it indeed is her ultimate dream…
